Case Study: Helping a Referral Partner Secure a Complex $7.85M Loan
Turning a Business Acquisition Opportunity into a Funded Outcome
When one of our referral partners, TPC Finance, was working with a client pursuing a significant business acquisition, it quickly became clear that a standard loan solution would not meet the client's needs.
The acquisition required multiple funding streams, strategic use of existing assets and access to ongoing working capital. Recognising the complexity of the opportunity, TPC Finance referred the client to Rate Money Strathpine to assist with the lending strategy and funding structure.
The Challenge
The client had identified an attractive business acquisition opportunity but needed to secure funding across several different areas:
- Acquisition funding
- Access to equity within existing residential and commercial properties
- Ongoing working capital facilities
- Funding solutions to support future business operations and growth
Rather than being a single-loan transaction, the client's objectives required a coordinated finance structure involving multiple lenders and products working together.
Our Approach
Working alongside TPC Finance and the client, the Rate Money Strathpine team undertook a detailed review of the client's asset position, financing requirements and acquisition objectives.
Our role was to design and arrange the foundational funding structure that would make the overall transaction possible while ensuring the client had sufficient flexibility and liquidity after settlement.
The cornerstone of the solution was a series of lending facilities arranged through Rate Money, supported by specialist business finance products coordinated through trusted lending partners.
The Funding Structure
The final funding package totalled approximately $7.85 million and included:
Rate Money Structured Lending Facilities
Residential Investment Property Equity Release
- Loan value: $920,000
- Equity released: $188,000
Commercial Investment Property Equity Release
- Loan value: $1.88 million
- Equity released: $815,000
Commercial Loan Facility
- $2.8 million
These facilities formed the foundation of the transaction and provided the core funding required to progress the acquisition.
Complementary Business Finance Facilities
Additional facilities were secured to support the client's operational requirements, including:
- $500,000 Line of Credit
- $500,000 Trade Finance Facility
- $750,000 Debtor Finance Facility
These facilities ensured the client had access to working capital both during and after the acquisition process.
The Outcome
Through close collaboration between TPC Finance, Rate Money Strathpine and specialist finance providers, the client successfully secured the funding required to complete the acquisition.
Importantly, the solution delivered more than just acquisition finance. It provided a comprehensive funding structure that allowed the client to:
- Complete the business purchase
- Unlock equity from existing assets
- Maintain operational liquidity
- Access working capital for ongoing growth
- Establish a funding framework aligned to future business needs
The Value of a Trusted Referral Partnership
This transaction highlights the value of strong referral partnerships.
The opportunity did not begin with a loan application. It began when TPC Finance recognised that their client required a broader financing strategy than a traditional lending solution could provide.
By introducing the client to Rate Money Strathpine, they gained access to a lending team capable of structuring the core finance solution, coordinating multiple funding streams and helping navigate a complex transaction from strategy through to approval.
For referral partners, it demonstrates the benefit of having an experienced lending specialist available when clients require support across residential, commercial and business finance.
